Hello everybody!
I'm better known as Island of Dogs, a regular contributor on Foxthroat's Warrior world-building blog the Feline-Helix.
For whatever reason, the forum wouldn't allow me to register as Island of Dogs, so I shall be known as Gingercloud on here. But I'm not overly fussed about what I referred to as, so call me Island or Gingercloud, whichever you prefer.
I've been in and out of Warriors Fandom for years, taking interest and then losing it with the ebb and flow of my often fast tracked mind. But for what it's worth, I do keep coming back to WC, so clearly it's near and dear to my heart. The writing is definitely not though, as I have little to no respect for the Erin's as authors anymore.
Much like how my interest in the Fandom has started and stopped over many years, so has my reading of the books. I only own a few of the Super Editions, but I've read the entirety of the first and second arcs, most of the third and fourth arcs, and several of the Super Editions. I have not read the fourth arc or the sixth (And frankly I don't want to), or any of the novellas. My reading of the graphic novels and field guides is also spotty at best (I never liked the art style of those comics anyway). But generally speaking, I am very well aware of what's gone down in the Warrior Cats world thanks to being a long time member of the Warriors Wiki. ( I believe this last August marked my sixth year there.)
I love the concept of Warriors, I love the concept of many of it's characters- I loath the terrible writing, and the horrible editing. Nothing makes me ground my teeth more then a great idea or an interesting character ruined by awful execution, and Warriors has been guilty of both of those things from day one. As such, I cherry pick Canon for concepts and ideas that I like and feel have the best potential and leave the rest of it to rot.
Anyway, I don't really have a favorite character, but I do have a soft spot for good ol' Firestar. I also relate on a personal level to Ravenpaw and feel that Snowkit's character was a particularly painful lost opportunity. As far as female characters go I enjoyed Sandstorm during the first arc, Hollyleaf during the third and Ivypool during the fourth. Berrynose is an admitted guilty pleasure of mine also. Mapleshade has my sympathies, as does dear Crookedstar.
I love small details, the really nitty-gritty things that few seem to think about or appreciate. As such, I am big in world-building and will ramble on about it for hours on end if allowed to do so. I personally do not partake in Warrior Cats RP, although this has more to do with the style of role-play that the Warriors Fandom prefers. I do have some experience role-playing in other fandoms and have enjoyed it. Not a terribly good artist I'm afraid, my artistic skill has never raised above the level of the average first grader. But I deeply admire fan artists and artists in general, since I am a very visually inclined person.
I also love helping people and making them happy, so I'm always up for a good discussion and I delight in critiquing others work. I do however have a tendency to ramble, and I speak in a very blunt and forward manner. So be aware, but don't be afraid. (I should also note that I am Autistic, so if I say something hurtful, it's all but a 100% guarantee that I didn't intend to do so and I will be very apologetic if it's brought to my attention. So please bring anything harmful I say to my attention, as I will take note and try my best to avoid it in the future.)
As for my personal life, I am a professional dogsitter and currently own three dogs of my very own. I have never owned a cat, but I've always liked cats and have spent many an hour reading up on their history, behavior, coat and eye colors and even the many various breeds. As such, I like to think that I'm generally knowledgeable on them. But hey, if anyone has any questions about dogs, I'd be delighted to answer! I also volunteer at a therapeutic riding stable and have done so for several years, I adore working with both the horses and the children. And the experience has also proved to be very therapeutic for myself personally.
I'd say that's about it, I hope that gives you guys a real good idea of who I am and what I like!
