So Currently I've got these three fanclans that I'm trying to iron out into something I can use for a fanfiction or a roleplay setting or something. I'll work on characters soon but I've got to get the worldbuilding hashed out a bit more first.
So they are set in vaguely Europe, possibly Englandish although probably closer to Welsh geography.
There are three Clans: Fieldclan, who live in and around a couple of farms (probably sheep) and have their winter camp in a lambing den and their summer camp in a hedgerow probably; Mountainclan, who live above the farms among the rocky outcrops, hiking trails and also have two camps, each with a medicine cat, one high up at the top of the mountain and one low down in a cave where kits and elders live all year round; and Forestclan, who live in a forest and are probably the closest to the canon clans. They were the first to be formed, and only use one camp, as their territory has enough vegetation to keep out the chills in the winter.
I've got a fairly good idea of what attractive cats look like to each of the Clans.
Mountainclan favours dilute grey and brown cats, with a lot of white. They are more likely to be longhaired, and the average warrior is stocky, with strong legs and very little fat during winter, even more so than the other clans. Mountainclan view the other Clans as less hardy and consider themselves to be closer to Starclan. Their more common stories tend to be about cats working with the spirits. They are the most likely to move borders into the other clans territory.
Fieldclan favours ginger and tortoiseshells, and are not particular about white content, but tend towards 0-50% They are the chubbiest, and were formed most recently, from a few groups of barn cats that kept having to battle the first few generations of the clans and eventually melded into a Clan themselves, after they crashed a gathering to ask how they could be left alone. The first leaders responded that only clans were allowed at gatherings and it went from there. Fieldclan are very picky about borders from the other Clans, but are the most friendly to outsiders, and are most likely to out breed as well. They are also the most tolerant of humans, and some will even allow humans to touch them. They value individual bravery, and their stories tend to be about one cat fighting an Evil Thing.
Forestclan favours dark colours, with little if any white. They are smaller than the other clans, due to not having Mountainclan's thick fluff or Fieldclan's near endless food supply, but they are the most constant of the clans. They don't tend to cause trouble much, don't move their camp for winter, and don't tend to take sides in an argument. They value morality, and their stories lean more towards group effort succeeding and actual histories.
Other miscellaneous facts.
Please let me know what you think needs improvement, and what works well. I'll be adding to this thread as I have more set up done.

- The level of anthropomorphism is fairly middle.
- The cats are fairly monogamous, although committed poly relationships aren't unheard of.
- They smile and laugh, but don't cry.
- They can see in the dark fairly well, but also have full colour vision.
- They rotate patrols, having at least four a day at each of the major time slots.
- Kits develop normally, although are not able to reproduce at all until 8 months, rather than 5, and culturally it is seen as weird to have kits before you've been a warrior for a year. Useful, but a little like having a baby at like twenty. Fieldclan don't start expecting relationships to even start until a cat is about two and a half to three, but they tend to be the longest lived.
- They are accepting of lgbt cats and no one makes a big deal about who the father of kits are.
- Queens kit in a separate den from the nursery, and kits are moved when they can walk.
- Cats that aren't kitting stay away from the birthing den unless they are a medicine cat, and warriors don't really visit the nursery either. There's no reason to since you can just interact with the cats in the main camp.
- Medicine cats don't use herbs, although they do use things like honey for infection, and know which plants are safe to use as vomit inducers, and which are actually dangerous. Part of their job is to teach kits which plants'll kill you. Aside from that the position is mostly spiritual and also cover mental health and wellbeing of the clan. The medicine cat (might be renamed) is your confidant and there for major problems.
- There are two med cats in Mountainclan, one specialised in care of kits and queens, and acts like a stand in leader for the camp, and one that stays with the warriors and performs normal duties.
