So, do tell-- what other groups of cats do you have in your world? One thing that always bugged me in Canon was how really there weren't many other groups of cats- they either eree kittypets, barncats, of just general 'bad guy rogue groups'.
To that end, I've worked out other types of groups within my world.
Wanderers: they generally live as mentor-apprentice pairs and wander about the lands with no set territory. They hunt, fight, and seek spiritual balance, as well as often bringing news to other groups.
Clowders: groups of mollies raising kits together, along with loner toms that wander or guard different clowder territories and take mates. Very defensive and territorial. Most common in the North and South Lands. West-Clan began as a Clowder.
Mobs: family groups of barncats, including toms. Typically inhabit barns and human settlements but reject being housecats. Most common in the farms of the East Lands.
Tribes: (less than 30) groups of cats who may or may not be related, and who live together under a certain crede and with set ranks. Does not, however connect to other tribes. Often form from unrelated cats banding together. South-Clan and Central-Clan began as tribes.
Glarings:large (more than 30) groups of cats living and hunting together. Do have set ranks, but lack a code or connection to other Glarings. Often form from clowders combining. North-Clan began as a Glaring.
Housecats: cats who have bound themselves to humans, live with them, and who are controlled by them. May be alone or in a group, typically have a childish mindset.
Specters: very powerful spirits, such as the Five, the First Clan, Founders, and exceptional cats. Typically Wanderer spirits.
Spirits: dead cats who have elected to remain in the living world for a time in order to more readily aid and advise cats, such as Foxthroat.
Ferals: cats who live in human cities but typically hate humans and reject being housecats. They live primarily in anarchy, though some Bosses (dominant cats) will set rules or control over some sectors.
Strays: housecats who have lost their homes. Often pitied in a patronizing way. More friendly to humans than ferals, and more inept at survival.
