So I know most of us here, myself included, tend to favor realistic kitties pretty heavily. But that doesn't apply to everyone. What do you think is important to pulling off a setting with more human-like cats? If you were to do such a thing, what are some ideas that would be fun to implement?
One area I've always thought can be pulled off either very well or very poorly when straying from true-to-life cat behavior is the battles. Realistic cat fights can be good, yeah, but there's something really captivating about more tactical battles that don't only rely on size. If you can find the right balance there and not break the reader's suspension of disbelief you can get some really awesome scenes!
It's the overall behavior and attitude of the cats that I think is most important to preserve to some extent. Keep it just enough to remind us that the cats are cats, that they have a different sense of morality and way of communication than us, and I think the rest of it can be played with very believably if written well.
